At the beginning of my Professional Editing class, I wrote an editorial values statement focusing on myself as an editor and my editorial goals as an introduction of myself to my professor and classmates. Because of this, I aimed for a mix of a friendly discussion and a serious academic paper. I decided to include this paper in my portfolio because not only does it show my writing skills, it also covers everything about me as an editor, from my background and past experience to my goals and personality. This piece then underwent significant edits due to the knowledge I gained from the class. It contains information a potential employer might want to know about me before hiring me.
